Science for Good
We dedicate capacity each year to partner with nonprofits and public initiatives where our scientific expertise can amplify meaningful change. These partnerships receive the same rigorous methodology as our enterprise clients—we customize project scope to align with mission constraints, never compromising on quality.
Our Commitment
As scientists and operators who have benefited from publicly-funded research (CERN, universities) and open-source communities, we believe in giving back. We offer our full enterprise-grade services at a significantly reduced impact rate for mission-aligned organizations, applying the same proven frameworks that Fortune 500 companies use to organizations working on challenges that matter.
This is Personal
This isn't just a service; it's a core part of my career. As the former Board Chairman for the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America, I spent four years leading a mission-driven organization, navigating the exact challenges of governance, funding, and impact measurement you face. I built this offering to help other leaders who are doing work that matters.
What You'll Achieve
We deliver measurable impact through focused engagements designed for mission-driven organizations:
Evidence-Based Program Design
Develop data-driven programs with measurable outcomes through our Scientific Impact Measurement Framework
What I Offer: We apply the same incrementality methodology I invented at eBay (Mirror Analysis Method™) to help nonprofits prove their impact. Whether you're measuring educational outcomes, public health interventions, or research effectiveness, we design experiments that provide scientific evidence of what works.
Tangible Deliverables:
- Incrementality measurement framework tailored to your mission
- A/B testing design for program evaluation
- Statistical validation of outcomes
- Impact dashboard with confidence intervals
- Grant proposal support with rigorous data
Technology Infrastructure for Scale
Build scalable technology platforms that multiply your impact through Mission-Critical Build Sprints
What I Offer: We ship production-ready systems using the same approach we use for enterprise clients. This could be a data platform (Snowflake, BigQuery), an AI-powered tool (using n8n workflow orchestration), or automation infrastructure that frees your team to focus on mission work.
Tangible Deliverables:
- Production-ready technology platform
- Documentation and runbooks for sustainability
- Staff training on self-service operations
- Cost optimization for nonprofit budgets
- Volunteer/contractor onboarding guides
Strategic Capacity Building
Strengthen organizational capability to leverage data and AI through Executive Advisory & Training
What I Offer: We provide the same strategic guidance we offer Fortune 500 executives, customized for nonprofit leadership. This includes board-level AI strategy, data governance frameworks, and team training programs. Drawing from my experience as Board Chairman and NACD Governance Fellow, we help you build sustainable capabilities.
Tangible Deliverables:
- AI & Data strategy roadmap
- Board presentation materials
- Staff training curriculum (Analytics Academy model)
- Data governance framework
- Technology investment recommendations
Partnership Models
We structure engagements to align with nonprofit realities while maintaining quality:
Impact Strategy Session
A single, 3-hour workshop to align your board and leadership on a data-driven impact strategy.
- Scope: Facilitated session to define your core challenge and map a data-driven solution.
- Investment: $5,000
- Outcome: A board-ready presentation and 90-day plan to use in your next grant application.
Pilot Programs
6-8 week focused initiatives to validate approaches and demonstrate impact. Ideal for organizations testing new data strategies or AI capabilities.
- Scope: Single problem, clear success metrics
- Investment: $25k–$40k
- Outcome: Proof of concept with path to scale
Sprint Collaborations
8-12 week build engagements to ship production systems that multiply impact. Same methodology as our enterprise Build Sprints.
- Scope: Production-ready platform or AI system
- Investment: $40k–$75k
- Outcome: Deployed technology with training
Grant-Backed Advisory
Ongoing strategic support for organizations with grant funding for capacity building or technology transformation. This typically translates to a monthly retainer (e.g., $2,000–$5,000/mo) for ongoing guidance, perfect for inclusion in your grant's 'personnel' or 'consulting' budget lines.
- Scope: Fractional advisory (8-16 hours/month)
- Investment: Aligned with grant structure
- Outcome: Sustained strategic guidance and execution support
Priority Areas
We focus our impact-rate capacity where our scientific rigor and direct experience create the most leverage:
Public Health Innovation
Data infrastructure, outcome measurement, and AI-powered tools for health equity and intervention effectiveness.
My work in this space is informed by my four years as Board Chairman for the Gluten Intolerance Group, my executive leadership at healthcare data giants Optum and Change Healthcare, and my early-career work as a Digital Transformation Lead for Fondation Phénix, a Swiss medical foundation.
Education Equity
Learning analytics, program effectiveness measurement, and technology platforms that scale educational access.
As a former Chairman of the Science Faculty Council at the University of Geneva, a Professor's Assistant, and a Guide & Lecturer at CERN, I have been on the front lines of academic and public education and am passionate about improving its reach and effectiveness.
Scientific Research Infrastructure
Data platforms, analysis tools, and measurement frameworks that accelerate discovery and validate research impact.
I spent 6 years as a Physicist at CERN as part of a 400-person, 17-country international collaboration. I didn't just use a research infrastructure; I helped build, calibrate, and operate one of the most complex scientific instruments on earth.
How It Works
1. Application & Alignment (Week 1-2)
We evaluate mission alignment, technical scope, and capacity fit. We prioritize organizations where our specific expertise (data platforms, AI, measurement science) creates disproportionate impact.
2. Scoping & Design (Week 2-3)
We design the engagement to maximize impact within budget constraints. This includes clear success metrics, milestone gates, and sustainability planning.
3. Execution & Delivery (Weeks 4-12)
We deliver with the same rigor as enterprise engagements: weekly check-ins, documented deliverables, knowledge transfer, and measurable outcomes.
4. Sustainability & Handoff
We ensure your team can maintain and extend the work. This includes documentation, training, and recommendations for volunteer or low-cost support.
Investment & Timeline
Partnership Investment: $25k–$75k for focused engagements with clear milestones and decision gates
Timeline: 6-12 weeks depending on scope
Annual Capacity: We dedicate 10-15% of our capacity to Science for Good partnerships each year. Priority goes to organizations where our unique expertise (25 years at CERN, Google, Optum building data/AI systems at scale) creates the most leverage.
Eligibility
We partner with organizations that meet these criteria:
- ✅ Mission-Driven: 501(c)(3) nonprofit, public institution, or mission-aligned social enterprise
- ✅ Evidence-Based: Commitment to measuring and proving impact
- ✅ Technical Readiness: Ability to sustain and operate delivered systems
- ✅ Clear Scope: Well-defined problem with measurable success criteria
Apply for Partnership
We review Science for Good applications quarterly and select 2-3 partnerships per year based on mission alignment and technical fit.
